ohp! healthy living edition & how to get a good workout at home

i hear so many people complain that they either; don't have the time to go to the gym, or don't have the money for a gym membership.  let's face it, gym memberships aren't cheap.  so if you find yourself saying "hey that's exactly the same boat i'm in" then this is the post for you!

today i'm going to show you some workout routines that you can do in the comfort of your own home, as well as a yummy and healthy lunch recipe for you to try.

workout at home

i know it's hard to make time for the gym.  most of us have full time jobs, and like i said before, gym memberships can be quite expensive.  don't fret, because i'm going to show you some workouts you can do from home.

the quick workout
if you want to burn a quick 100 calories, try this with a 30 second rest in between:
40 jumping jacks
30 crunches
20 squats
10 push ups

full body workout
if you're looking for a more intense workout try this with a 60 second rest in between:
40 jumping jacks
15 squats
20 lunges (try this with small weights in each hand)
40 mountain climbers
5 burpees (if you are not sure what a burpee is let me know and i can explain it to you)
50 bicycles
30 second plank
5 push ups
40 high knees
15 squats
30 second plank
40 mountain climbers

these are just a few quick workouts you can do while at home.  i found most of the ones i do on pinterest.

a good lunch is key to a healthy routine.
i'm going to give you some healthy lunch ideas as well as my favorite lunch recipe.

if you're on the go, check out these quick lunch ideas:

1 can of tuna fish with 1 serving of pita chips and hummus for dipping.
tuna fish is a quick way to get the protein you need!  pita chips are a healthy way to get your carbs in and hummus tastes great, and is a healthy alternative to other dipping sauces.

grilled chicken spinach salad with dried cranberries, shaved almonds, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and feta cheese with balsamic vinaigrette
i make my own vinigerette by mixing 1/4 cup of EVOO. 3/4 cup balsamic vinigar, a small amount of garlic and onion powder to taste.

my FAVORITE lunch recipe 

1 spinach or whole wheat wrap
3 slices of deli turkey meat
2 slices of tomato
1 slice of low fat cheese (your choice)
spinach
 1 teaspoon balsamic dressing (recipe above)

this wrap gives you just the right amount of carbs and protein, and it's delish!

  1. I work out at home all the time!!! I feel so much better about it than being at the gym with all these gym nuts that do amazing workouts while I'm all like "ok I just did a mile on the elliptical let me take a break" because I'm not as fit as them! haha
